DampOut+ Damp Proofing Cream is an advanced chemical injection cream used to remedy Rising Damp.

Installation of this Damp Proofing Cream is simple and does not require specialist skills or equipment. Installation requires drilling of 12mm holes along a mortar joint, followed by the injection of the Damp Proofing Cream into the holes using a caulking injection gun. Where the Damp Proofing Cream is injected into external walls, the holes can be capped using Damp Proofing Cream Injection Plugs, for a neat finish.

How does Dampout+ Damp Proofing Cream work?

Rising Damp is the upward movement of ground water, by capillary action, into permeable walls of buildings.

Where Rising Damp is present, it is possible to install an impermeable barrier into the mortar bed of the wall to prevent rising damp. This is done by using Damp Proofing Cream. Once applied, chemicals in the Damp Proofing Cream diffuse and line the pores in the mortar with water repellant resin. This waterproof layer provides a barrier to water rising upwards through the wall.

When damp rises through walls from the ground, it may carry with it mineral salts from the ground. Where the Rising Damp evaporates from wall surfaces, these mineral salts will absorb moisture from the air resulting in the appearance of damp - even after the installation of the Damp Proofing Cream. It is best practice to remove contaminated plaster after installation of the Damp Proofing Cream, when the plaster has dried out. Your specification for the re-plastering should include an Integral Waterproofer.

How to damp proof Walls...

Locate a mortar joint at least 150mm above external ground level. (For internal walls, insert the damp proof cream in a mortar joint as close to the internal floor level as can be achieved).
Drill 12mm diameter holes horizontally in the mortar bed to a depth of 10mm less than the wall thickness at centres no greater than 100mm.
Remove all the dust from the holes.
If walls are dry or mildly damp, spray water into the holes until absorbed by mortar. This is a very important step as it increases the effectiveness of the product.
Fit Damp Proof Cream cartridge with nozzle supplied.
Inject the Damp Proof Cream cream slowly into each hole using a standard 400ml caulking gun.
Extend the nozzle of the gun to the rear of the hole and slowly withdraw the nozzle as the cream fills the hole.
Holes in external walls can be easily capped with SkilledBuild Injection Plugs or alternatively use silicone, resin or mortar.
Internal holes should be plugged or plastered over using a suitable rennovation plaster, or by simply covering with a skirting board.
Note that cavity walls will require an application to both the inner and external walls.

Silicone emulsion formulations may cause mild irritation, therefore, wear lightweight impermeable gloves when handling.
