How should I prepare metal surfaces before using Bitumen Paint?

If you are painting metal with a bitumen coating you will first need to remove any rust with a wire brush. Where long term protection is required, an initial treatment of a rust inhibitive product such as red lead or zinc phosphate should also be used.
