Introducing the Latest Generation Masonry Repair Grout!

SpiraGrout is a high performance, thixotropic cement based masonry repair grout developed by SkilledBuild.  There have been similar masonry repair grouts on the market from other suppliers for many years but unfortunately these have not been updated and improved by using newly developed additives.  SkilledBuild’s product development and testing has resulted in the introduction of a number of the latest High-Tech cement additives and enhancers to create a superior latest generation masonry repair grout.  Our masonry repair grout gives higher performance and easier installation due to improved pump-ability through a mortar gun.

Mixing & Installation:

The masonry repair grout is easily mixed using the products and the outer packaging bucket. A full bag of powder and 3/4 of the liquid is added to the bucket. The products are then blended using a mixing paddle in an electric drill. The remainder of the liquid can then be added as required to create the desired consistency. The prepared masonry repair grout is generally pplied using a grout gun. It should be noted that the prepared grout should be used immediately after mixing for best results.  For more detailed installation ifnormation, please see our Product Information Sheet.

Before use SkilledBuild recommends that users familiarise themselves with the Product Data Sheet below.

Do not use if temperature may fall below 50C within 24-hours after application.  Higher application temperatures typically above 200C will result in rapid curing and significantly reduced working times.

  • Fully prepare the work surfaces. Cut and shape SpiraCoil Helical Wire or any metal fixings. Wet surfaces (avoiding standing water) or prime using SkilledBuild Ultimate Pro SBR as appropriate.

  • Remove the bagged powder and bottled liquid from the tub.  Outer packaging tub contains one or more bags of powder and bottle(s) of aqueous liquid.

  • The tub can be used for mixing.

  • Empty ¾ of the liquid into the tub and add all the powder.

  • Use a low speed electric drill with attached SkilledBuild Standard or Heavy Duty Mixing Paddle (or similar) to thoroughly blend the components for at least 5 minutes until a smooth grout is achieved.  Mixing by hand is unlikely to be satisfactory.

  • Add the remaining liquid slowly to the grout until at the required consistency.  Once mixed the grout has a limited pot-life.  Use immediately.

  • Apply grout using a mortar gun or by trowel as required.  The grout is thixotropic and naturally becomes more viscous (thickens) when standing in the tub. It is recommended that before each refill of the grout gun, the fluidity is improved by remixing, using the paddle for a few seconds. Entrapped air should be knocked out of the grout.  Keep the mixed grout cool and out of direct sunlight to maximise its workable life.

  • Clean equipment with cold water.  Dry residue may be removed using a stiff brush.

  • When SpiraGrout is used to bond SpiraCoil Helical Bars, any required pointing of repair channels may be carried out as soon as SpiraGrout has   hardened.

Important points:

  • Mix only one full bag to each bottle of liquid (or as directed if a mixing data sheet is enclosed within tub).  Do not add additional fluids or plasticisers or the strength or the grout will be compromised.

  • Do not attempt to add additional water and remix once the mixture has stiffened and become unworkable – discard the product and mix a fresh batch.

  • SpiraGrout is NOT formulated or suitable for dry-packing or as a free flowing grout for base plates, machine bases or void filling.  Use only as a manually positioned or directly pumped product.

This is only a short overview on how to use the product and does not cover all the necessary points. Please click the 'Product Data Sheet' link below for product and installation information.

  • SpiraGrout is non-hazardous, but work cleanly and adhere to the PPE regulations.
  • Remove grout splashes from skin with soap and water and in cases of eye contact wash with cold clean water for 10-15 minutes.
  • Seek medical advice if irritation persists.

Are there any situations when I should not use SpiraGrout Masonry Repair Grout?

Under no circumstances should the grout be used where freezing may occur; it should also not be applied into dry or water logged holes or chases as in these situations the masonry repair grout's performance may be impaired.
